Fair Weather
I was listening to Tony Paige on the FAN last night on my way to Jersey, and all I heard were Mets fans ready to jump off a roof because Jose Reyes was “not offered” a contract.
I have been a Mets fan for a LONG time and I have seen droves of fans come and go and come again. Let’s say The Mets HAD signed Reyes to a, for instance, 5YR/$90M contract, significantly less than what...
Deep Breathes
I started looking into Umpire School a month or so ago and fell in love with the idea. But now that it can actually happen (if I save all my pennies) I am getting extremely nervous.
First off, if I give this a shot, that’s it. That’s all my money for a dream. A dream that even if I work as hard as I can and for as long as I possibly can, there is no guarantee of it coming to...
Detatchment
I have been a Mets fan as long as I can remember. Because my dad was a Mets fan. It’s that simple.
I was born into the lean years. Late 70’s / early 80’s. When The Mets couldn’t throw out the garbage. George Bamberger. Ed Lynch. Pat Zachary. And then George Foster came along. My first favorite baseball player. Former MVP. Big HR guy. And there was hope. Change is coming....
The Year That Punk Broke
I just finished reading that awesome interview with Ian McKaye on Pitchfork. And just before that, Dennis Lyxzen, telling us how he really feels about angry/sad metalcore.
For those that know me, know that I am about as stuck in the past as one can get. But I am also extremely eager about the future and pretty entertained by the present. There isn’t an era of music that I brush off....

What's Now? What's Next!
I am really getting fed up with how short sighted this industry and this culture as a whole has become.
Music has never been a “what’s now” industry. By the time a band is ‘now’ they already have the whole team behind them and are in the machine. Our job is to see what’s next. And that goes for so many industries. We need to find what’s next. And if we...

Riding In A Bus With Strangers
I met these four girls roughly five days ago.
I had heard a lot about their band over the years and honestly hadn’t given them or their music much thought.
There were some preconceptions though, to be certain.
But the girls that comprise the rock band Kittie are some of the coolest, punkest, badassest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Maybe I’m not the hugest fan of...

Bunch Of Dicks
I went to a show and thought the band were complete and total dicks to their audience. THEIR audience. And I later read a review of that show. The kid wrote something to the effect of (and no, I can’t be bothered to re read it and get the exact quote) ‘they played as if no one was there, they just truly enjoy playing and that’s why they were there.’
NO SHIT! that’s why anyone that plays music...

Like Riding A Bike
Looks like I’ll be hitting the road pretty soon. This will be my first full US run as a TM in around 8 years. All the venues and promoters are still the same. Gas is more expensive. I am way heavier. Hope I fit in the bunk still….
Funemployment Ain't No Fun
I hate being out of work.
Sitting at home is driving me nuts.
I’m starting to tweet about Angry Birds. That cannot be a good sign.
I need to get out on the road. If anyone knows of anyone in need of a tour manager or road personnel with my particular skill set, please give me a holler.

If It Weren't For Adam Pfleider, I'd Have No...
A friend wrote some stuff about some stuff. I had an opinion on it and wrote a blog about it. Wanna hear it? Here it goes.
Once you take music out of the basement / garage and play it for a single person outside of your own brain, you are bastardizing the artform. You have involved EGO. You are doing it for ANY reason other than the sake of art. Whether you are doing it for humble reasons like...
Slackers
I’ve been slacking something fierce on the tumblr lately. And I apologize for that.
I just got laid off. Without anything else lined up.
This week has been the first week in quite some years where a band hasn’t been depending on me.
I am not sure what I am gonna do.
Probably head out on tour.
Let me know if you hear of anything I may be suited for.
I’ll send you a...
Article on South Park's Most Recent Episode →
Adam posted this originally. It’s great. The episode was brilliant. I kinda like Tween Wave.
Last but certainly NOT least. This is the the best string of sentences, maybe ever written.
If you are friends with me, you probably have suffered from this at some point.
THIS!!!!
Everytime pop culture pokes fun at vinyl or hipsters, it’s my favorite. Here is The Simpsons taking a stab.
As I figure out how to use iMovie, I will upload more stuff I’ve seen.

Open Letter
Creating a message board isn’t impressive. what impresses me is the community that we are a part of growing so large that it could make you a “success” by merely creating a message board.
But the big difference between me and you, aside from the fact you probably play Lacrosse, is that we see our community as two entirely different things. Where you see statistics and graph...
A Great Rollins Column →
I really don’t sweat Rollins as hard as my constant blogging about him makes it seem. But this article is awesome. Touching and sums up a lot of what I feel about music.
Glenn Gould said the perfect artist to audience relationship in 1:0. I believe that True Art could die alone with you in your basement.
In Response to Responses
Some of the responses to my blogpost “Why You SHOULD Sign To A Major Label” insisted that Major Label’s are bad, because they are big corporations and that Kickstarter is better.
Let me just clear something up.
Kickstarter is owned by Amazon.
That’s a pretty big corporation.
I believe 10% of the money YOUR FANS pledge TO YOU goes to Amazon… Maybe 8%, but...
You Can't Bake A Cake In A Microwave
This was a response to Bob Lefsetz from Troy Carter, Lady Gaga’s manager.
I love it.

Bob, I’m going to start calling you Charles Barkley!
On second thought, Charles Barkley was at least a player in the game before he was a commentator.
With all due respect, it’s very easy to sit on the sideline and call plays. It’s a...
The Time I Got Mugged
Long Island 1988. Disco had just arrived to Long Island in the form of Freestyle. Songs like Diamond Girl and Let The Music Play. And Guidos controlled the turnpikes and avenues. And for some reason… a cool look was those tiger striped pajama pants, wife beaters tucked in and hi-top reeboks The flea market was the cool place to hang and non violent crime still existed. Cus now, its all...
Why You SHOULD Sign To A Major Label
Because it doesn’t matter. And soon it will matter even less. And because outside of your friends, family and (if you’re lucky) your small music community, no one gives a queen’s ass about your band, your youtube channel, or your twitter feed. As proven by all of your (and mine) twitter feeds, youtube channels and bands.
The fact is you are NOT going to get rich and/or famous...
Matt Pike on Property Of Zack
propertyofzack:
Matt Pike has become a good friend to PropertyOfZack and we’re thrilled to have him back for a second Contributor Blog feature. Matt runs The Kenmore Agency and books bands like August Burns Red, Balance & Composure, Fireworks, and Man Overboard, among many others. In his second blog, Matt discusses how bands and other individuals in the music industry often make small...

Tasteless! But true. Sort of.
BAND MEMBER 17:19: we talked about this a while back, but have more booking agents and managers started working with bands despite the facade of a label?
neilrubenstein 17:19: everything depends and everything is case by case…
neilrubenstein 17:20: if a band works hard they get noticed.. end of story

Drop Off Your Flip-Flops at Old Navy to Recycle...
danacama:
Starting April 22, Old Navy will be hosting a monthlong drive to collect used flip-flops for TerraCycle, a waste-reduction company that will recycle them into four playgrounds across the country.

My Kickstarter Goal is $7,029.06
Knock it off with the Kickstarter.
First off. It’s a terrible look.
Feels like the guy on 28th & 7th with the sign “No Family, No Job, PLEASE HELP.” I give him change out of pity, not out of respect for his artistic integrity.
Here’s my problem.
Assuming you ARE in fact a DIY band or rapper or whatever it is you think you are (‘cus clearly you aren’t a pizza delivery person): Kids are paying...
Let's Go Mets!
I am a Mets fan. Always have been. Always will be,
I watch as many games as I can, from the comfort of my couch. I love it there.
I do not like when other self proclaimed Mets fans are negative about MY team. If you like something, why do you dislike it so much. There are some music fans like that too. Knock it off. You are harshing my mellow.
You obviously see how rough times are for the team...

Riding In Cars With Strangers
I went to a rock concert tonight. I didn’t want to take the train home late at night so I gambled. I tweeted to the band, perhaps they could ask other fans if someone was going my way, and wanted to give me ride home. We got quite a few responses.
Friends thought I was crazy for taking a ride from strangers and trusting my life to two random girls. But I trusted our community and knew I...

New Episode.
The impetus for this was a post on AbPunk. In the spirit of concealing names and not starting unnecessary quarrels, I will not post the original post. I will post my response, and the email correspondence that followed. It was in reference to an item being reissued at a sale price approximately 12 months after being released.
[Note: I edited out a bit of personal info as well. No changes,...
